For best results on any newer Sony running (or capable of running) Android 9.0 or later turn off 'Auto picture mode' and 'Light sensor' then set picture mode to 'Custom' and adjust the 'Backlight' level to your preference based your room lighting. Leave all other picture settings at defaults and you'll be good to go.
