So I have a sony bravia xbr55x850d and was wondering if I could turn a flash drive into the internal storage. I talked to sony but they said no, but I want to get a second opinion. It's on android 7.

Internal storage functionality was introduced on Android 6 so, yes, you should be able to do so, unless they removed the feature altogether, you must insert the USB drive (make sure it is a 3.0 one) then go to settings -> storage-> select the USB drive and finally select "format as internal storage". Let us know if it worked for you.

I couldn't get it to work with the xbr65x930d. The same OS. There's no option to format it or even store apps on it.

Plug in the drive and give the tv a second. A window should appear asking what you want to do with the device. If you choose internal storage it will erase everything on the drive. You are limited to 256GB. People claim to have allocated more but I cannot figure to how.

You can also go to: Settings, storage and reset, select the drive.
