Android box in canada

I'm looking to find a box that will stream 4k and dolby digital, truehd as well as the ability to cast from mobile devices and utilize standard music apps like Spotify, plex..etc. While its welcomed, I already have multiple home theaters so it doesn't really need any other functionality as I just want 2 for a couple bedrooms. I've been killing myself looking for a low priced option and so far mi box s seems like it could do it but Im torn as all these things have so many reviews of inadequacies, not to mention I dont know where I can trust to purchase them as I've never used any of the sites they seem to be sold on. Can anyone provide some recommendations or insight on which one or where to buy? Thanks 😊

Can't go wrong with a Shield.

If this will be your primary box, grab yourself a shield. The box is indeed expensive and overkill for streaming only. however The box will pay itself in time. My 5yr old 2015 shield is still regularly updated and beat all current android boxes in the market, minus newer Shield.

mi box s, jetstream, tivo 4k stream are also good alternatives. BUT if you're not in a hurry, I'd wait for the upcoming google sabrina to come out.

Look at Tivo Stream 4K. Can't bet $60.

I have an original mibox 3 and have basically had no issues with it, although I don't watch anything in 4k. Otherwise there's just the Nvidia shield. No other android TV devices can do proper netflix in 4k.

Nvidia shield. Hands down. High quality device and is, in my opinion, worth every single cent.

I had a mi box previously but what I gained in very slight savings I lost in sheer power and smooth quality of life viewing experience.

Another vote for the Shield... If you don't ever think you'll need to connect a hard drive to it or wired game controller the Tube version is fine... But otherwise get the Pro.

I'm not an expert on this product. It is apparently still on sale for $50. It is true android TV with a skin on on top that can customized back to android TV. It does work with plex.
