So I just got a Mi Box S 4k gifted from my provider. But one thing is noticed is that it has trouble playing 4k footage through the USB port. Which should be able to handle 4k.
Movies often play fine but near the end, issues start to appear, most noticeable the total loss of audio.
Anyone has a solution for this?
This is strange, can you check the maximum bit rate of video and audio file, as well as towards the end. You can check this in VLC player.
The usb port on the box is 2.0, if the file's bit is higer than the transfer rate of the hdd/usb device this may happen.
Can you check with a 4K file with lower bit rate? As well can you try this on VLC?
Sound like a video playback Software issue or source video encoding problem.

Have you tried transferring the file to the internal storage and playing?
Alternatively if you have laptop or desktop you can setup a Plex server and stream it to the mi box using Plex client.
