Tv no longer seen by Google home when shut off

by shazzmoe

Sometime in the past two weeks my jet stream Android TV I bought from Walmart a year ago appeared to receive an update. Auto updates were turned on so I didn't catch exactly what was updated but the options menu and the volume slider are different.

Now for whatever reason when I shut off my TV it's no longer be seen by my Google home so I cannot automatically cast or play to it without manually turning it on.

In the old version I remember there was a power option for the remote control that would allow it to shut down versus put it in a standby mode. However that option no longer seems to be present. Does anyone have any suggestions ? I've reset my device about four times now and can't get it working the way it was before.

Another strange thing is that the ethernet port stopped working on it but then started working again after I reset the device the third time.

Look for an eco mode on your TV.

I probably have the same problem. I have Sony Android TV from 2015, and it was working good, and I could wake it up by casting, now I don't see the chromecast button on my phone until I turn on the TV...

Thanks for the suggestions... Another really annoying thing is that youtube no longer works properly on it. I have premium and sometimes get adds when it says I'm logged in. Other times it signs me out and back in randomly.

After further testing I can see that the device is no longer seen by my router when it's turned off. Unfortunately I can't find and eco related settings. Only possible solutions I haven't tried involve side loading.

The device was updated to Android 9 but still that doesn't have anything to do, I guess the problem lies in the HDMI-CEC setting that was affected by the update, did you check that? go to TV settings and make sure it is turned on.

PS: don't reset it to factory settings again.
