I just picked up a Shield TV Pro and was hoping to do all my broadcast TV viewing from it using my HDHomerun TV Tuner instead of flipping through channels from my TV itself. I am a Plex lifetime subscriber but have avoided using that for live TV in the past because channels load unbearably slow. The Live Channels app seems to load fairly quickly but I was wondering if any other apps work better/load faster.
I use both Live Channels and Plex with my HDHomerun and Shield TV. Live Channels is snappier like you said so I use that to watch Live TV and to record shows that I plan on watching on my TV. But I use Plex to record shows that I want to be able to view on other devices or that I want to keep after watching.
The actual HDHomerun app needs a complete makeover in my opinion so I don't use that. If I didn't have Plex then I would use it on my other devices to watch TV but fortunately I don't have to.
You can try the TVMosaic Live app works with HDHR devices there are 2 versions make sure u download the live version the other is for mosaic server
Have you looked into TiviMate? It's what I use with mine and I absolutely love it. It's very easy to get an m3u file from your HDHR.
Kodi has HDHR Addon (PVR) support.
Kodi's compact Grid EPG is excellent - so is it's "Long press OK" button quick on screen channels Pullup.
Live channels, or the hdhr app? Plex live is improving but still slower than live channels.
