Connect old Bell remotes to android tv box

by dolfies_person

Hi there, I have a weird question, but I'll throw it out to see if anyone has answers.

I have a few old IR Bell Slim remotes, and I wanted to connect them to my android box. I did some digging and found out they're rebranded Ruwido remotes, but still couldn't find a remote.conf file. Has anyone successfully connected old stb remotes to tv boxes? Anyone have a remote.conf that will work?

Does your android TV box have a built in IR receiver? Or does it use bluetooth only?

My 2017 shield doesn't have an IR receiver so I had to plug in a USB IR receiver that goes with a matching remote.

I wouldn't bother with trying to change the remote.conf file. You'll need to root your box for that, and even then, like you said, you'll need to find or make the right config file for it.

Instead, consider just getting a FLIRC. You attach it to your PC, load up the software, and just map the keys to what you want. Then you can write your configuration to the FLIRC, unplug it from the PC, and plug it in to your box.
