Clearing Active Apps from Memory

I used to have a Shield, and if you double clicked the home button, it would display active apps that you could then clear from memory.

This does not work on my new ematic AGT419 (the successor to the Walmart Jetstream box).

Does anyone know of a way, besides going into app settings and doing a FC, of controlling apps in memory?

Try a task manager from the playstore

alt-tab from a keyboard plugged in? (depending on your remote you may also be able to map the same to keypress)
