Does AndroidTV with google assistant interrupt shows when you say 'Ok google'?

by deathtone

I am looking into buying a phillips androidtv with google. The only thing stopping me is I have about 3-4 google devices already, I would like to have the TV playing in the background and saying 'OK google turn off the lights' to my other devices. I know there's an option to use the control to talk to the TV but is the 'OK google' voice command disabled on the TV set itself? Or is there an option to?

I just don't want any shows or movies running on the TV to get interrupted if I say OK Google

The TV will only respond if you press the "Assistant" button on the remote control. It isn't listening otherwise.

I have a Philips Ambilight TV. Can confirm first hand that TV is not going to listen to you unless you push assistant button.

Also.. remember to disable the option to reduce volume when calling Google. I have it enabled, otherwise sometimes Google keeps blabbing while I give it command and it's irritating. But when enabled, Everytime any one says okay Google all devices including Android TV will mute it reduce volume and.. depending on tvs mood it will return the volume back or stay on 0 -_-

Anyway not a big Hassel and they keep tweaking it's behaviour which you already know.. don't let it from buying you an Android TV. These things are awesome. Wished they were powerful enough for emulating games like phones are.

Like the others said, except one cool feature that hasn't been mentioned: there's a setting somewhere to lower the volume on your TV after you say OK Google and turn it back up after your command has been sent. Very useful!
