Just purchased a Phillips Android TV. Having a few minor issues and thought someone here could help.

Issue #1: when I downloaded and paired the android remote app, it has glitches when using the keyboard (inserting letters I didnt type and wont let me erase them) and it also causes my physical TV remote to stop responding completely.

Issue #2: the amazon prime video app says it's not compatible with this specific android TV but I can cast from the Amazon prime video app on my phone by hitting the little cast icon at the bottom of the phone app... this works for a little bit but eventually hits a buffer that just stays buffering forever... like the app crashes or something... it's not a bandwidth problem because I'm pulling in a steady 100mbps with at&t fiber. I'm noticing other apps having minor buffer issues but I'm almost certain it's not my wifi because my other TVs have played fine for the past 3 years on this same setup. Any ideas?

Any help would be much appreciated because this is my first Android TV and I really think its cool... if I can iron out these few kinks it would be awesome.

I got a Sony 65" Class BRAVIA 4K (2160P) Ultra HD HDR Android Smart LED TV (XBR65X800G) in September, 2019, for $698. Android TV on this Sony "just okay" to me. I MUCH prefer the $25 Roku Streaming Sticks on the other TVs in the house, all connected to 10+ year old NON SMART plasma TVs. The Roku system is just so much more polished, in my opinion.

If I had it to do over, AND if I could get my wife to not "really want" the Sony brand, I would have gotten a bigger 75" TCL or Hisense Roku TV for the same price or less, or preferably, a 75" NON-smart TV for significantly less, and simply attached a $25 external Roku.

Anyway, back to your issues:

  1. I'm not sure that the Philips brand is what it used to be. Is it possible that Philips just didn't do a good job with the phone app?
  2. This is the reason I don't really like built-in smarts on a TV. To some extent, you're at the mercy of the manufacturer to ensure proper compatibility support. That said, the Prime Video app does work fine on the above-mentioned Sony, so I'd guess that the issue is not so much Android TV, but specifically how Philips has implemented it on your particular TV.

Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Idk I got it from walmart yesterday. I didnt do the protection plan and I threw away the box. Walmart might not be as forgiving on unboxed electronics... I've already mounted it and everything.
