Do you own a HDR TV? If yes. You should probably wait. There are color issues with the latest Android 9. Everything else is running smoothly.
I would recommend 8.1. It is by far the best one for Mi Box S.
I have run into minor issues, for example Plex will not play anything with DTS audio if the audio on Android 9 is set to Auto. If i change this to SPDIF, it plays it fine. Not sure if this is PLEX issue or with box. Other than that all the streaming service work. I have it at 4k60Hz.
Do you have mdz16ab that is limited to Oreo 8.0 or do you have mdz22ab that started with Oreo 8.1 ?
I'm in the same boat, on 8.1 though. I've cut the cord with mine, and considering it's been working fine on 8.1, I've been hesitant to upgrade it. I'd like to take advantage of some of the new features in 9, but not at the cost of issues. I figure I'll wait a few weeks to get a real feel for any remaining problems, then upgrade if it still seems stable.
