Hi Folks, I have a 43 inch LED Philips TV and an HDD, the HDD has a lot of 4k content, the TV flawlessly is able to play anything in 1080p, however, the moment I throw anything in 4k it doesn't work, the native media app plays the video with no audio and 3rd party apps like VLC player are able to play the audio and not the video, the TV is a little old now, (3yrs), hence can't play Youtube since the OEM has not updated the Android version, have another box to play some online content, however, the box and HDMI cable has a limitation at 1080p- hence can't check.

External HDD- https://www.amazon.com/Model-Passport-Portable-External-Backup/dp/B00E83X9P8
What should I do? Have tried to install multiple app post looking at Youtube- none have worked, VLC for me is the best overall, there is another Sony 4k TV that is able to play the same 4k files on VLC player, hence VLC does not seem to be the issue.
Is the HDD USB 3.0? Might be struggling with bandwidth of 4K content
EDIT: is this even a 4K TV!? It’s likely the processing power is just too low on this TV. Dont forget processing 4x the pixels needs to come from somewhere..
EDIT: EDIT: some TV’s have USB2.0 and USB3.0 make sure you’re in the 3.0 port for the hard drive (likely only one port that is 3.0) because again, the bandwidth might be the issue here
