How to change Google Chromecast screensaver on Nvidia Shield 2019?

by sberla54

Hi everyone,is there a way to change the screensaver on Nvidia Shield 2019, the one provided by Google Chromecast, the image slideshow?

I can't change its settings via Google Home app.

My screensaver is showing only "Featured Photos", with a long time between each other (like 3 minutes) and without photo details or weather. I would like to add more photo categories, like "Arts" and "Street Art".

If I go to Home > Nvidia Shield TV > Settings > Ambient Mode > and I try to add the other categories, they're all already enabled. If I disable and re-enable them, nothing happens.
The screensaver settings remain the same.

Here my settings in Google Home (sorry for the Italian):

I use Aerial Dream on the Shield .

Works well. Looks great.

Has anyone else experienced the same? Just to understand if I should try to do more tests or if I should give up.

I'm on Nvidia Shield 2019 standard P3430 updated at version 8.1.1 and Android TV 9.

I've also opened a thread on Nvidia Shield official forum and the Staff simply answered me "These features aren't supported by Google on android TV today": https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/shield-tv/9/354196/how-to-change-google-chromecast-screensaver-on-nvidia-shield-2019/2449961/

Then they stopped replying.

I really don't understand what they meant, since this feature has always been available on my Xiaomi Mi Boxes.

Android TV is not a Chromecast, setting the wallpaper using Google home doesn't work, blame Google.

You chan get a screensaver that use Google photos or other sources.

Search for screensaver in the Android TV app store.
