Yep happened in mine too, the fix is i just connect the speaker to the tv
Popping noise appeared after android 9 update. Didn't have this problem on 8.1.0. As far as I know downgrade is not possible. Basically you will have to wait until a fix is coming. Or turn off your speakers when not using your Mi Box.
Wakelock+v3+3.1.6.apk Turn on(or keep it active) CPU on main screen, and Run on boot in settings of this program.
Yup, my fix was to go out and buy a different Android TV solution.
Seriously, I put up with the popping for months. Tried even switching to optical audio (bought an adapter), no change.
Save yourself the headache and get rid of this junk while you have your sanity. I've never been so disappointed with a purchase in my life.
It is possible to not let mi box sleep by app that aquires constant cpu and wifi wakelock. Useful also for Chromecast build-in.
