After updating, I had a similar issue. I unplugged it, waited 30 seconds and plugged it back in. It worked fine after that. I think it needed to reboot one more time to finish the update.
The update to a9 ist a nightmare
Long press shows Android shutdown menu
Try long pressing power button. It may work.
