Mi box s ethernet problem

by Ambitious_Risk

Hello there I am having problems with my mi box s it feels like 50€ went to waste, it lags wifi disconnects randomly and it doesnt have natural Ethernet port making it difficult to work smoothly. Anyways, back to my problem I bought this usb hub with ethernet connection It worked fine at the beginning unfortunately some problems occurred I am not sure if it was because I changed some settings in developer options in order to prevent it from lagging but it gives me an error at the homescreen saying that ethernet is not connected is there any settings I could change so I can solve it?

Throw your Ethernet adapter in the garbage and buy one that works with Android 9.

You probably updated to Android 9. Shitty USB to Ethernet adapters do not work with it.

Best bet is try a complete reset first

I have a mi box (not S) with an ethernet usb adapter from startech, don't remember the price but I'm sure it was pretty cheap, it's been like over a year and I never have problems with it, so it's probably something you can fix either by replacing the adapter or resetting the mibox to factory default

make sure you're not using a 5 GHz network..those things suck if the router is not nearby, use the 2.4 GHz on the router instead

My UGREEN Gigabit Ethernet/USB hub has been working great with my Mi Box S. Plug and play simple. I turned off WiFi, too just to be safe.

I have the same adapter and it works great. Sounds like you turned on usb debugging in the developer options. Turning this on will kill any usb connected devices on these mi boxes. Try turning this setting off and rebooting the device.

New ethernet switcher is the best option, but sometimes USB port can be damaged while using such hub. I have choosed another way: since I don't need Netflix have bought this one . This Ugoos X3 a small one, has Ethernet gigabit Adapter and software looks pretty clean.

Xiaomi Mi Box cuts down power supply to the USB port when it goes to sleep/Suspend mode. Therefore, it does not realize that it has a USB adapter connected to it when wakes up from sleep. You can side load the Wakelock app from the link below and Enable "Processor" and "Wi-Fi normal" in Wakelock to see if that helps.

Try to enable Ethernet mode from the Developer settings / USB settings
