"Bricked" Mi Box

by txwylde

I have a Mi BOX that I upgraded with the latest version of Android through the software updater. I moved it to another room and now I just get a black screen. I do not get a Android logo at all. I have tried hard resetting it to factory defaults and that did not work. I reached out to Mi Box Support who wants me to dig up a receipt, which I am unable to locate. Any tips on how to get this back up and running without tossing it out the window?

I just had the exact same poblem. The new update is crazy flawed and xiaomi customer services didn't even want it admit the problem.

I have now un bricked my device using the following guide but it is a pain:

If you hook it back up to the previous TV / Display does it work? If it works there, do a factory reset, then unplug it and move it to the new TV. (It might be a resolution issue)

I've got two that are in the same boat. One day working then dead.

For what its worth, buy electronics from online retailers OR companies with a rewards program that tracks your purchase (Best Buy does). From there you can find those receipts and essentially stick it to the companies who don't want to pay for their screw ups.
