Set top box for Steam Link with HDMI 2.1 + Gigabit LAN

by mdedetrich

I just recently bought an LG OLED TV that has NVidia Gsync and is capable of 4k at 120hz. In another room I have a desktop PC and I am planning to stream games from the desktop PC to my TV using Steam Link (I have a direct CAT-7 connection with the desktop PC so I shouldn't have any real latency issues).

Initially I was thinking of getting the latest NVidia Shield TV however it doesn't support HDMI 2.1 which means it can't support 4k at 120hz. Does anyone know (or can anyone recommend) an Android TV Box which does have support for HDMI 2.1 as well as gigabit LAN port? Also if it has support for Dolby Vision that would also be fantastic since I also want to watch 4k movies that have Dolby Vision on my TV.

There are NO media player boxes on the market thst have HDMI 2.1 that can do 4K@120Hz.

In fact I seriously doubt games developers are even going to give you 4K@120Hz games, that is simply too demanding even with upcoming gaming technology.
Don’t get suckered in with all the unproven “hype”

GSYNC and AMD Freesync are for use with PC gaming Rigs.

Still going to be awhile before we start to see anything supporting full HDMI 2.1.

There were not even many new television sets shown at CES with HDMI 2.1

Beelink GT King, HDMI 2.1 @ 4K75Hz and GB lan is probably the closest to date to what you are asking for. There are a few custom ROMs developed if you want Android TV.

I'm pretty sure, even your TV doesn't support 4k 120fps yet. It's capable but still not enabled. It will be added in future update
