Seems it updated it's OS and now often it's not responsive , laggy etc especially if you go to the app store and my apps it just freezes

Have you done a factory reset on it?
After a full OS update, there's lots of rubbish hanging about on your device. I've seen significant benefits from a full factory reset after any OS update.
Yeah. I'm pissed. Updated a month or ago. Randomly hangs, requiring I pull power to restart. Hulu hasn't worked since then. General lag.
Laggy causes:
a) Low Storange space
b) Not doing a FACTORY RESEET after a major Google OS upgrade.
c) 2.4 GHz Bluetooth Radio Freq interference issues, pull batteries out of remote and re-pair. Reposition media player away from RF interference sources.
