That's more or less the same with any product... warranty only guaranteed in the country the product came from
It depends where you buy it. I bought it locally, where EU law mandates that it should have 24 months warranty, so even if it bricks, you can return it and get refund or a fresh device.
I am sorry for your experience, but, just like with every product, there will be some faulty devices or issues for certain group of people.
Did you restore default settings after update
If you purchased it with a credit card, it may be covered under warranty from the credit card company. Doesn't hurt to check!
I was thinking buying this product for my old android 4.2 philips tv.
That’s what happens when u buy a sub 50 dollar box. Spend extra and get a shield.
What you have experienced is frustrating for sure, however you can't determine what's a common issue for a device that's sold in million unit quantities just by a couple forum posts.
