I wanted to pick up an Android TV box from Amazon so i can watch my media from Google Drive.
Is this possible without having to do a bunch of confusing stuff like on Apple TV and Roku ?
Thanks.

You can sideload Google drive. Just download an apk from the installed browser.
You'll be doing it for quite a few apps but it's no biggie once you have Google drive as you can download an apk on your phone or computer and add it to your drive.
Use the Kodi Google Drive Addon:

The Infuse App on the Apple TV HD/4K also supports Google Drive:
Use NPlayer.
File Commander. Free version will work for you. It is somewhat aggressive with trying to get you to pay for it (on a subscription model, no less...) but it can access your Google Drive easily and is available from the Android TV Play Store.

I'm using Solid Explorer to access Drive. That's how i sideload my apks.
Solid Explorer is paid app.

Kodi --> Google Drive Addon.
I have tried some of these ways to install Google drive on my Firestick and it does not work. Did they change it recently?
Does anybody know how to install google drive step by step on android tv
X-Plore works great. Once installed from google Playstore on your android tv you can log into your google drive within X-Plore app
I used to use ES file explorer to do that because it had the ability to access cloud services, but it's owned by somebody else and is total garbage now.
