The space is perfect, but they are right the cable management must be done. You have plenty of solutions for that and it is not costly at all :)
The correct term is "bias lighting"
It is possible the picture may be different than reality, but I find the ambient lighting to be a bit brighter than I prefer.

We're it not for the cables I'd think I was looking at a thumbnail for some tech youtubers tv review.
With all that work you've done to beautify the space, it might be worth paying an electrician for an outlet behind the TV to avoid the cable clutter on the left side.
