Got an xiaomi box s and certain applications require you to use the standard Google keyboard out of the box to search for stuff without the option of using the microphone. How do you use the microphone for voice to text to search for stuff on apps? The only use it has so far is Google assistant
That's limitation of those application not implementing standard search. Like Prime Video. You have to use keyboard. Other alternative is use Android Remote app to use keyboard from your mobile.
