Skystream android TV media player for sale in the US? 8K for $125 US

by da5id1

I was noodling around some of the stuff I never use on my Fire Cube like Pluto TV and I watched a few minutes of news on the UK Skystream station? (I am in the US.) And I started getting email from them (I swear I didn't give them my email, they must've got from Amazon?) Anyway, they seem to sell a version 3 for like $500 on Amazon US. However the email I received was for a Skystream branded generation 4 8K capable Skystream android media player for $125 US UPS priority shipping included. Is this an android TV and what's up with a UK broadcaster selling presumably hardware for UK licensed media (as well as the usual apps, in fact anything in the Google play store and some other place like Pure APK?) With this thing be of any use in the US?

This one appears to have similar specs for ~$40. The 8K thing doesn't matter, unless you have an 8KTV. The Skystream runs a random XDA rom, so you could probably do the same for the $40 box. It won't be Android TV regardless, merely phone Android on a TV, so not really relevant to this sub anyways.

Amlogic S905X3, says

" MPEG-4 ASP @ L5, WMV/ VC-1 , AVS-R16/AVS-R2 JiZhun Profile, MPEG-2, MPEG-1, and RealVideo 8/9/10 up to 1080p60"

Guaranteed, that it does not play the VC-1 video codec.
