Question about the Ematic Jetstream

by raygu303

Will we ever get an update for the Jetstream??? I also own an AirTV mini and Sling/Dish does a good job on updating that. But as far as my Jetstream, nada since I bought it about a year and some change ago!

Doubtful. Aside from a few good vendors, update scarcity seems to be a baked in fundamental artificially and intentional done by manufacturer flaw with the various Android based product producers industry wide.

This is the reason I told people no on this box!

It's a disposable box and doubtful you'll see an update.

The Mi Box for a budget box or Nivida Shield for a Cadillac box.
Both getting updates for years now.

People bitch and moan about the Mi Box but damn what do you expect for a 40 -50 dollar box.
Personally in a very basic setup I have had 0 problems with the 5 Mi Boxes I have out.

I have a Shield but I don't game so all it does for me is be a little snappier than a Mi Box.

I read there was a European version of the Ematic Jetstream with Android 9.0 on it?

I wish that the NVidia Shield hadn't removed the IR Receiver feature in the 2017 regular version of which I have two of that I got for quite cheaply. Seems like Android TV is like Android phones. Android phones, good luck finding one with a headphone jack microSD port, IR Blaster, and stock pure Android. Likewise, a good box with pure stock Android TV, USB 3.0 ports, A/V out, microSD port, and Networking capabilities...

I have a Jetstream that I bought for 60 bucks over a year ago. I know it probably won't get any updates but mine works perfectly without a problem since I bought it. So no need the update. Besides, there's really nothing really interesting for me on the 9 pie. If it brakes, I just get a fire stick . Then a expensive shield or a problematic Mi box.
