Is there a way to use the Harmony Alexa skill to change channels by voice on Live Channels?
I have a Sony 1080P 65" Android TV with Live Channels as my default tuner. I'd like to be able to tune channels up/down or by "Channel 457" etc. Is this possible?
I'm also considering the Nvidia Shield 2019, are there any Alexa or Harmony controls for that?
If you're looking for Alexa ways to change the channels or control a streaming box on the Android Live Channels app, then you should get a Fire TV Recast and a Fire Stick. Alexa is proprietary to Amazon and that's basically for their system.
Otherwise, see if turning on HDMI-CEC works to change channels by number with the Sony Remote. With my Samsung TV and HDMI-CEC on I can use my Samsung TV remote to control the Android Live Channels app. I can't speak for the Harmony as I've never used one in this fashion. And there aren't options to remap remotes in this fashion.
I wouldn't bother with buying the NVidia Shield 2019 if you already have a Sony Android TV, unless the Android TV is older/running slow. Or if you're strictly looking to use NVidia Game stream to stream games from your laptop, or host a Plex server or something more complex, like moving files over a network. The Sony Android TV can basically do the other things that the NVidia Shield can do.
