External HDD detected BUT not showing files in 3rd party players (VLC, KODI...) on my Android tv 8.0

by RockstarAssassin

I connected my 32gb pendrive (FAT32) and 3tb external HDD (NTFS) to my android tv 8.0, videos on both are playable using the built-in player of tv but it's not a good player so i use VLC and for some reason I'm unable to see my NTFS format HDD files in it BUT FAT32 pendrive files have no problem to browse and play.

I have lots of movies and tv shows on my 3tb external HDD and i can't play them thru VLC or even Kodi which is very frustrating! Unable to format it to FAT32 either. So please someone help me find a solution guys!!

In VLC have you tried "casting" to your tv? Under the "Playback" tab and in drop-down menu, "Renderer".

It may not suit your use case but formatting to ext3 should work I think.
