This issue has been fixed thanks to u/hockerz, you will find an edit at the bottom of this post that explains how to fix your issue
I have a Xiaomi mi laser projector running android tv, today an update started (without even asking permission).
After that I had some problem with the audio from the hdmi input, after a while of messing arounf with no success I turned everything off and came back some hours later.
At this point not only I don't have audio but also video is missing.
The issue is not in the cable or the source of the hdmi (i tested them and those are not the problem)
I even whent for a factory reset with no luck. Has anyone experenced this?
[Edit] I posted a followup to this that you can check up here I would suggest you to post any updates there so we can gather informations in a single spot
[Edit 2] Here is the step by step guide on how to fix this issue, the fix comes from u/hockerz that contacted xiaomi's support. I take no responsibility for any damage to your belongings, here there is just what I did and what worked for me.
What you need:
- A pc
- A USB stick bigger than 1 gb
- Your projector and your remote
How to prepare the usb stick:
- Plug in the usb stick
- Format the usb stick to fat32 ( should be the default format option)
- Download the files from here
- Put the 2 files you have downloaded ( formovie_update-anglee and update-anglee.zip ) in the root directory of your usb stick (the rood directory is the first directory you see when you open the usb stick)
- Eject the usb stick
How to update the projector:
- Unplug the power cable from the projector (support only mentioned to unplug the powercable, I unplugged everything for good measure)
- Remove the batteries from the remote
- Plug the usb stick in the back of the projector
- Press and hold the "Enter" and "Home" button ( this two buttons )
- Plug the power cable in and keep pressing the buttons
The projector should now be in update mode, you should see the update bar moving, you can now relase the two buttons
- When the update bar is complete the projector will reboot, As soon as you hear the projector powering off unplug the usb stick. This step is not mentioned by the support but when I left the usb stick plugged in the projector kept not working, so I redid the whole procedure and removed the usb stick as soon as I heard the projector powering off7) Now you will have to set up the projector as it was new and the external sources should be working
Is there anything shown on the screen, my guess is you already tried the three hdmi ports. See if the AV input port works. My guess is the update failed or was interrupted.
