Cheap Android TV/cast box?

by Poromenos

I just bought an LG TV which, to my dismay, doesn't support cast, but uses proprietary apps for any thing you want to cast. YouTube from the phone launches the YouTube app, Netflix the Netflix app, etc.

Is there a cheap HDMI thing I can buy that will make the TV support cast or Android TV? Also, the fewer things I have to agree to track me, the better.

A Chromecast?

Look at the Xiaomi MiBox4. You can pick one up for $50, Walmart and Amazon occasionally run deals where you can get them for $35. I have 2 and they work great

nvidia shield. it not cheap, but play almost everything, including netflix in FullHD (chinese boxes unable to do it).

Unfortunately unbranded Chinese boxes can't play Netflix in HD, so if you will use it for that the best box you can get is the Nvidia Shield which is not cheap but it's the best box on the market in my opinion, bought mine about a month ago no complaints, the closest thing would be buying a Chromecast, Firetv stick 4k or Xioami Mi Box

Amazon fire stick?

You might consider the Jetstream device from Walmart. It is $70 and has many more ports than a Mi Box. It is a licensed Android TV box and performs surprisingly well.

if you want kodi, mecool box (S905 chips) with coreelec handles fantastic.

xiomi mibox s

it's a great product, and for the price it's an even better buy.

Yes, the choice is a big SwitchShop. I’ll advise you to watch the TV box yourself. I think this will be a good option, but then see for yourself.

Those Hisense Android TV's work pretty good. Great color and you can install from the Play store. I have Kodi on mine. 55 inch is 400 at best buy

You're better off simply looking for a bargain on a used Nvidia Shield. I managed to get one for $25 from someone who wasn't using theirs.
