Not sure anyone has faced this before. Disney+ will open the app, and when you click into any movie or TV show it won't have a play button or any details, just a background image?

Same issue for me. Support told me that they're working on it, but who knows. I'd suggest to reach out to their support regularly so at least they'll see people want it and that casting is not a good long term solution.
Disney+ doesn't even appear in the store on my TCL TV running Android TV 9.0, so you're already ahead of me! :) And when you go looking for (Amazon) Prime Video, I can't get that either. I did try contacting TCL support, but their answer is "You can cast from you other device". Sigh
