YouTube app timing out

by SsjSnowman

Don't know exactly when, but some time this past month my YouTube app started timing out my sessions. I can understand if you forget to turn it off before leaving home, but in my case I have a playlist or 10hr track I play to lul me to sleep, and now within a couple hours it stops playback

"Are you still there?"

It's very annoying, and I'm one of those weird people that need music or a fan to fall asleep or I become very uncomfortable. Is there a way to disable this, or maybe a tv app that passes that check? I saw threads about people complaining about this on the YouTube TV app and just brushed past them... now I understand.

Just tell them how unhappy you are over here ..

Yeah, I don't like the new app at all, it has some very annoying features like more obtrusive ads, doesn't have activities to pass it a url an play it, the interface has bugs, it doesn't show subscriptions directly, every time you open it it shows a banner showing you have just logged in which is unnecessary, etc...

I had been using the last version 1 which in my opinion was less annoying and worked fine, but for some reason those at YouTube decided to just stop making it work last week and now had to update. We should be free to use whatever app version we want not be forced to use what they want!
