Any Mi Box S compatible bluetooth remote?

The title says it all...

My Mi Box S remote stopped working since my bay nephew came over and threw it from second floor about a month ago.

So I contacted Xiaomi customer service few days ago and they told me they don't have it in stock. :(

So I ended up buying a cheap wireless remote with a USB receiver from aliexpress and it works great for the most part... except I cannot turn it back on after I put my Mi Box to sleep. So I have to unplug/plug back in just to turn it back on whenever someone presses the power button, put mi box to sleep. It is not the worst thing in the world but I find it quite annoying...

I was told the original mi box remote doesn't work with mi box s.Unfortunately I couldn't find any replacement mi box s remote on aliexpress (though I see tons of original mi box remotes) What about amazon fire stick remotes? Do they work with mi box s? Anyone found a working bluetooth remote for mi box s?

I'm using the original Fire TV 4K Bluetooth remote with the Mi Box S. It seems to work great except for a few rare places in the OS or apps where the ok / select button is mapped slightly different.

I paired the Fire TV remote under Settings > Add accessory. Then held the home button down on the Fire TV remote for about 10 seconds. The only trick is you will need another means of control(another paired remote, usb mouse / keyboard, etc) to select Add accessory and then selecting the remote when it's discovered.

Its just ridiculous that Xiaomi do not sell spare remote controls for their devices.

You can find some generic bluetooth remote controls (models Q5 and Q8) ....search on aliexpress, banggood and maybe amazon, and others, These are the only 2 BT remotes I found which work on the miboxs.

But be careful, there are 2 versions of these Q5 and Q8 remotes, one 2.4gHz usb dongle and the other bluetooth. The order web pages sometimes vaguely describe the 2 remotes on the same web page and one has to be careful to select the correct one for ordering.

The remote controls mostly and generally work except for the voice (does not work) and when resetting the mibox at startup one has to use an ext keyboard or mouse with USB dongle to connect it again and then the BT remote stays connected.

There are some sites selling listed original MI BOX (not the S) remote controls but they seem to be expensive to chance trying. I tried some of the cheaper BT MIBOX remotes from China which were listed as being bluetooth but they were not and do not work.

I bought this the other day. Works great, other than to save battery, the remote puts itself to sleep after like 1 minute, so you have to hit any button, wait a second and then it reconnects and works until it goes to sleep again.

I love it because it's Bluetooth, so no dongle, and it has programmable IR buttons to use with a tv, and/or sound bar. I use it with my Mi box S and it turns on and off the box all the time, without any problems. Haven't had to unplug power at all.
