is there a way i can set up a MiBox or ShieldTV to auto play an mp4 movie on USB drive? the movie is 5 minutes and i need it to loop endlessly. basically i will use it as a TV menu displaying food on a 4K TV for my aunt's bakery. it works fine now BUT if power is out, im back to the "home" screen. is there a way to set either box to play the mp4 file automatically upon boot up?
yes, i got a raspberry pi working fine before but it does not support 4K mp4 playback as seen here: https://github.com/adafruit/pi_video_looper
There is a way to loop video in Kodi, but you will have to manually start it. Here's a thread I found that's a bit old. Back then, Kodi was called XBMC. https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=155071
As for 4k, how close will people be standing to the display, and how big is the display itself? Under certain circumstances (I'm gonna get downvoted for this) people might not be able to perceive 4k resolution anyway , and 1080p for what is basically digital signage should work just fine. Either way, Kodi on a Shield will handle 4k.
