Android Q will have native support for data-saving AV1 video codec. AV1 is a new video codec designed to help companies or individuals to transmit high-quality video over the internet efficiently. With AV1, operators can stream high-quality video content to Android devices using less bandwidth, which also means that operators can deliver higher-quality viewing experience to end-users, even when bandwidth is constrained.
