65in Philips PFL5504, any way to record live tv?

by themanicmerk

So, after 2 days of scouring the internet and trying everything I can think of, I can't find a way to record live tv? Apparently Android 7.0 introduced the feature, but I can't figure out whether Android 8.0 removed it or Philips has intentionally disabled it? I've tried multiple apps and configurations and can't seem to have any luck. The tv does pause live shows and allows rewind/fast forward but there is no option to record... I've even looked at down grading to 7.0. I just feel like it should be an option? Am i missing something? Anyone about to help me out?

Don't seem to recall that being an Android TV feature before.

If it's like the shield, you attach a storage drive to the tv and then use live channels to watch and record.

You will need another tuner as the built-in one on the TV is inaccessible to AndroidTV.

Suggest you try Geniatech/Mygica PT-681 (if you use ATSC broadcast format. Otherwise they have other variants for DVB flavors. Costs are around $25 USD)

There is a workaround in this forum how to incorporate this device and its recording capacity into AndroidTV/Live Channels.

Good luck

Hello I'm sure if you attach a flash drive) hard drive it should give you the option?
