it needs either ethernet or usb 3.0. Fully featured usb-C would be great.
Bring back the IR receiver.
Fix the refresh rate change system.
Make flawless 4K display (with HDR) a priority.
It doesn't need a whole lot of changes, in my opinion. But I'd like to see some additions.
RJ45, 3GB of RAM, one or two more USBs, SD reader and 16GB storage.
To keep the cost down as an alternative to the Shield the addition of an Ethernet port would make it a better box and allow it to remain cheap.
If everybody would like all the additions mentioned then spend 3 times the amount and get a Shield.
I have both and can't really justify the Shield because I don't game. It is a tad bit snappier than my Mi Box.
USB 3 at least 2 ports
Ability to use a USB tuner for tv
Wired Ethernet
*3gb of RAM *A more updated CPU *Ethernet port *USB 3.0
Recents menu like the Shield
Dolby vision
Better H265 support that means a better chip+gpu. Definitely Ethernet port at least 100Mbps.
Better remote control quality Remap rc button Chargeable remote
A better chipset
I do believe it needs to remain inexpensive and not try to compete with Shield or GT King.
Seriously I am quite happy with my MiBox as I only use it in a bedroom so not concerned with advanced audio. Actually it's still pretty snappy imho, but faster processor would make even better
IR remote for non-CEC TV's, programmable button for sleep timer, long-term software updates.
There's only one reason I don't own a Mi Box S...
Every review I read agreed that it "stuttered sometimes" in 4k... This is absolutely unacceptable.
Don't advertise your player as 4k if it can't actually do it. 4k TVs were like $250 this season... Full, buttery smooth 4k isn't an option anymore. It is just a basic requirement.
I'll buy a mibox when reviewers finally agree that these things can actually manage a 4k stream.
Better HDMI CEC control (especially for volume up and down on TV)
Drivers for USB TV tuners (or coaxial input on the device itself)
IR receiver on the device (and proper ir codes) so I can use Harmony remotes.
Definitely more power, more usb port and an etharnet port
Fix the remote. When you do a reboot, the remote must be very close to the box to link otherwise it looses the connection. Also add a mouse feature to the remote.
Otherwise I really like the MiBox!
ethernet port, better processor, power off feature. I bought one of these for my parents thinking theyd be ok cause all they do is stream youtube, fox sports go, and a few other apps. The device has become unusable. it moves unbearbly slow and glitches out if it comes back from sleep mode. If i reset it it works ok for about 20 mins and then starts to crap out again. I'm never wasting money on another pos mi box.
Ethernet port.
more internal storage. even just 16gb. 8 is too limiting. i have 49 apps (including pre-installed ones). i need to clear cache whenever i want to update because it's right at the limit. don't have room for more installs until i clear cache either.
16GB/32GB Storage, and better WiFi at $50 starting price.
IR Remote to control TV's on/off and volume.
And better customer care team.
A faster cpu! Its barely enough to keep up. It does the job, but just that, and an extra USB port. I wish i could hook up another USB-drive for all my stuff :/ AND faster AndroidTV updates. Been sitting with 8 forever
A Shield
A powerful Dolby Audio and DolbyVision licensed AMLogic S922 chipset, same as the 2019 FireTV Cube has.
Gigabit Ethernet & USB3
Kodi auto Frame Rate Matching wth HD audio support.
