Fire TV Stick vs Mi Box S for IPTV only

by Chriexpe

I can get both for the same price, it would be installed on my parent's tv to basically only watch IPTV, so wich one don't lag while playing it?

I saw somewhere that Mi Box S controller looks cheap compared to Fire Tv one, is that true?

Edit: I found out that on Ebay FS4k are being sold cheaply.

Fire4k w/TiViMate set to Autolaunch.. Fire works very well, great remote and is fast, its launcher is just garbage.. but they wont see it.

Mi Box can't deinterlace, Fire Stick can, so for iptv the Stick is much better. Google deinterlacing.

I have a firestick 4k with tivimate. No issues other than the occasional provider issues. Remote is able to control the tv power and volume.. it's a Sony TV. I love the remote size and feel... But I don't like the clicky sound of the buttons.

I run a VPN app and I get a solid 80mbps download and 20mbps upload. Non vpn I get 180mbps down and 20 up on WiFi. My service is 600/20.

Also, if you have Bluetooth headphones, you can pair it up and watch TV without interrupting anyone else in the room. I have not tried pairing two headphones so I'm not sure if it can do both at the same time.

Best of all, it's all hidden behind the TV.

Get the Mi box and the app PVR Live from Google play store, its only like one dollar a month. U should also compare prices on the apps used to watch tv.

I have both, MiBS remote cannot turn on/off the TV directly, also the volume control will reduce the volume on the box and not TV. It can turn off/on TV via HDMI - CEC. But the remote is slightly bigger in size. The lettering on it is painted over and will fade away in 5-6 months of regular use. It is our daily driver. The remote feels good in hands and works well. Have FS-4K too, but find the navigation slow and the remote keys need hard press.

I use free version of Perfect Player

FS-4k is $15 cheaper than MiBS, they are not the same price. If MiBS was available for $25 i would have ordered another one.

1st you need to find out if any of the IPTV streams you are going to watch are going to be Interlaced vs the regular Progressive encoded video. (I'm suspect IPTV is likely to be progressive)

BOTH devices have problems with Broadcast TV type Interlaced video, progressive video is just fine:

I personally would get the Amazon FireTV Stick 4K - it will run rings around anything else for the price paid and get great ongoing support from Amazon.

The FireTV Stick 4K has really, really good MIMO (Multiple Antennas) AC WiFi.

In my opinion you should just get a Raspberry Pi and install OSMC or LibreELEC on it unless by iptv you mean something like Sling TV or YouTube TV

Depends on your country but I went for mi box s as official google Android TV stores comes with frequent updates and everything works. My parents don't understand much English but having fewer keys on remote makes it easier for them to understand how other things like YouTube, network based apps and Netflix works.
