How can a get a fluid film viewing with a Xiaomi Mi Box S from a shared folder on my PC?

Good morning. I've seen that many users have a Mi Box S, so I'd need help because I'm new in this world.

In the same room I have the Mi Box, the modem and the PC. I have shared my "Movie" folder on my pc on my home network, and I wanted to use the Mi box to see these movies on my projector. Sadly, the movie viewing it's not optimal, as the movie often stutters, slow down etc.

When I see a video on Youtube directly from the Mi box, everything is fine, the video is perfectly fluid, even the most dynamic. The only problem I see is when I play a movie from the shared folder on my pc.

What could be the possible causes? I have a 100 mbit/s connection, a Fritz Box 7530 as a modem, and as I said, everything is in the same room.

Thanks in advance

What are you using to play back the movies with?

I suspect that the issue is the wi-fi being shit. Try to test your speed with "analiti" from the Play store.

Yesterday I tried with Plex. I installed it on my Samsung TV NU8000 and on my Xiaomi Mi box S.

Results:

- Xiaomi Mi Box S wich is at 1 meter from the modem -> often stutters when reproducing Alita: Battle Angel at 1080p mkv.

- Samsung Nu8000 placed in another room at 5 meters from the modem -> plays smooth as silk the same movie.

So, is the Xiaomi Mi Box S a shitty device for streaming content from a shared pc folder? I think yes. And I spent 65 euros on it.

Maybe I can sell it. Are there good alternatives (I didn't want to spend much, so I don't want to buy a Nvidia Shield)?
