How do I get AMazon Prime on my Android TV?

by AndyP79

Well, title says it. I have figured out how to make it cast from my phone to the TV, which is fine, but I just paid for a TV and due to Google and Amazon arguing or whatever, I would like to know if there is a way to side load and actually use the TV that cost me money? Not coming up with a clear answer in my google-fu.

I have Amazon Prime on my Sony Android TV. Via App Store/Get More Apps.

Amazon still works out deals with individual ATV device manufacturers, because Amazon is a dick like that.

The feud between Google and Amazon ended this summer. Amazon Prime's app is available in the Google Play store.

What type of Android TV are you using?

An alternative Play Store client like Yalp Store should be able to download it. You'd probably need a mouse or similar pointing device to navigate it, though; I haven't tried Yalp Store on Android TV.

I also am not sure if the APK will actually work once installed, since I use a Shield and that has official Amazon support anyway.

Good luck.

Wow. Lots of replies this morning! Thanks y'all! So yeah, I have a Hisense 58" 4K TV. I'm not sure which version it's running, I think I saw something said 8.1? I guess individual TVs need permission? I'll try the download links and see if I can sideload the APK files. Thank you for all the thoughts. I'll work on this when I get home this afternoon.

I tried the apk file on my MiBox & it would install but never actually work. Then realized i could just cast from my phone & never had any issues with that... so thats all i use
