Anyone have issues with this? Side loaded Chrome, but when I go to enter an address the voice box pops up. If I try to move over to the search box to type, it disappears. If i speak in to the remote, nothing happens.

You can download Firefox for Android TV. It's free and works great.
Sideload Opera instead of Chrome. Recent versions of Chrome do stupid stuff to the address box on Android TV OS. Opera doesn't do that. Switched and haven't gone back, for what I need a browser on Android TV for.
You can use Tv App Repo to create an app shortcut for the web sites you want as a workaround. Obviously only worth it in cases like Apple TV +
Have you tried downloading the Android TV remote onto your phone ? works really well for typing
