What unorthodox/unique things are you doing with your Shield?

Retro gaming. Long post incoming.

I have a gaming computer upstairs connected to the network with ethernet, downstairs houses my Shield. On the computer upstairs, I installed steam which lets me stream games with the steam link app on shield. The shield downstairs has a usb 3 4-port hub plugged in, which lets me connect 4 usb controllers (EasySMX controllers are great. Cost $10/each new on eBay).

Also on the computer upstairs, I installed Dolphin, which lets me run gamecube and Wii Games. I added dolphin to my games library on steam, and now I can play super smash bros (brawl and melee), mario kart, etc on my shield downstairs.

Bonus points. I downloaded Wake on lan on my phone along with google chrome remote desktop. Steam auto starts on my desktop upstairs when windows logs in. So I can turn on the computer with WOL, log in with remote desktop, and launch/play games from the shield without ever touching the computer upstairs.

Note on the USB hub: My shield is the 2015 version, so plugging in and unplugging controllers almost always accidentally turned off the box. Was also limited by 2 usb ports. The hub fixed both of these issues. Also should note that the shield USB "settings" has three options for USB: Auto, Performance, and Compatability. The difference is that one is USB 3 mode and one is USB 2 mode. The shield wasn't switching to USB 3 properly on auto and I had to change it to "performance" mode to get all 4 controllers working with the hub.

Using it as an Airplay receiver.

Baby monitor/security cam. The Tinycam pro app can be used in picture in picture mode.

I used mine as a gamestreaming client for a while. Played about half of DOOM (2016) that way using a wireless Xbox 360 controller.

Now my Shield is a YouTube machine showing kid videos lol.
