There are no custom roms., so dont root it!, even if you find some method. Its noth worth it and you might just as well throw it in the garbage bin. Dont even bother trying. You will end up with a little brick.
What ads? I dont have any ads. Please explain to me wher ar ads on mi box s? When you use chromecast function? On what app?
The easiest option I have found to block ads is changing the DNS to free AdGaurd DNS service: 176.103.130.130 176.103.130.131 Set this up on your WiFi router and all the ads will be blocked on all of your devices connected to it.
guys pls... this subject is absolutely redundant knowing the fact that you can't root this box or even install custom ROM if the bootloader still is LOCKED!! unless Xiaomi unlock it or some hacker figures how to do so... then thats a conversation for another day... so in the mean time... stop wasting ur time and close this post.
When you use browser you can do anythings beacause uou don have an oficial browser for android tv. Android tv is focused on streamkng services, not browser. For youtube you coud subscribe for youtube premium (no ads), on ohret apps...depending on apps. Google chromecast its just a service. You have this ads on a Chromecast dongle too. Anyway.....dont make a stupid mistake ant try to root or even downgrade your MiBox S. Just buy a ordinary chinese shit box.
This is a PREMIUM device at low price. After a lot of problem with chinese ordinary box, i left all behind a i buy a MiBox3 and later a MiBox S. Now i am HAPPY
In the next second when you root that box (if you can do that), that box will go to recycle bin. That box is CERTIFIED by Google and NETFLIX (witch is a very very important things). If you root this box you will broke the certified trust ring, and you will lose DRM L1 decryption keys forever. At that point NOBODY will repair that box. Trust me! Read about DRM L1 and L3 before you make a mistake!
