Hey, new Shield TV owners!, can you please test Dolby Audio conversion (DD+ to DD conversion)?

I second this. I have the same issue with the previous gen Shield Pro. My TV and Soundbar only support DD since they can only connect with each other via an Optical Cable. This is the only reason I use an Xbox One to watch Netflix and other streaming services since it can convert DD+ to DD. If the new Shield can do this too, I'm upgrading in a heartbeat.

@branches78 - Well you have certainly changed your tune since you told me this incorrect info last week:

Re: 2015/2017 Shield.. (that has NO Dolby Audio licence)

Wrong, DD is enough to operate (5.1 Netflix audio) as intended, trust me, I've seen it and heard it working.

The properly Dolby Audio Licensed 2019 Shield will now allow DD+ > DD audio downmixing.

Same as the properly Dolby Audio Licensed FireTV's and Apple TV's have always been able to do.

Any new news on this? I saw from a video there's a new setting called Dolby Audio Processing. Is this in any way related?

still no answer on this?

I can't believe this shit is still a question in 2019. Every box should do this, yet so few of them do.

If you have an AVR with ONLY Dolby Digital decoding by HDMI go for it.

When you open up Netflix, the 5.1 logo should appear for most movies and TV shows, just select the one you desire and go to the audio options, select the one with 5.1.

Yep, it works. DD+ is converted to DD and 5.1 icon is visible in the Netflix app. In addition I've tested if 5.1 works by using Test Patterns and I can confirm that it works great. Tested on Nvidia Shield TV 2019 Pro.
