Android TV Box

by MetalHawk17

Hey Guys. I'm looking to get an Android TV Box. I have a Roku OS TV. (It has Roku built in.) Can I plug in the Android TV to the tv and override Roku OS, or will it not work. If so, what is the best inexpensive android TV box that's actually good. I have an extra HDMI port. Thank you in advance!

What's your reason for trying to replace the Roku with Android TV? Cuz I have and Android TV and trying to replace it with Roku mainly cuz of the new Apple TV app. Would like to know your reason to help me decide well.

Really you only have two options for Android TV: the $70 Xiaomi Mi Box S or the $200 NVIDIA Shield TV. Since you want affordable, you'll be grabbing the Mi Box.

Plugging in a box like this is the same as plugging in any device into an HDMI port. When you switch inputs to that device, you'll be seeing the display form that device. It doesn't override or take over your TV's built-in software. It doesn't even touch that. Like you can play Xbox or watch DVDs without changing what OS the TV uses. Make sense? Instead of using the TV to open Netflix, you'll be using the Mi Box to open Netflix.
