PS4 remote play on Android TV?

by Spooky1611

Love my Philips android tv, so many wonderful apps in the appstore and I probably haven't even touched the surface of what is possible.

The news last week was that every Android device now supports PS4 remote play. But it seems like Android TV does not support PS4 remote play yet?

Anyone got it working in one way or another?

I sideloaded the app (ver. 3.0) from apkpure in my 3 android TV devices using x-plore file manager.

In my mibox 3 and mibox s worked well (both connected in a 5 GHz wifi) , but I had to log in one of my secundary PSN account and them change to my primary one after the remote play is set to use the dualshock4 with the miboxes. I used the 720p mode in the app settings, because 1080p stream is only available in PS4 PRO.

On the other hand, in my TLC SEMP TV android TV worked too, but the remote play was slow as hell, even in 540p mode.

Surely an APK clone and transfer to an Android TV would work?

Ranting off your question-- I'm glad Sony has the Remote Play out for non-Xperia devices now but I would like to see them step it up with ease of use now that Vita handheld and Vita TV are discontinued. Make it Android TV compatible too and since it requires version 10 for DS4 support then bring back the USB dongle so it works on TV devices like ours. I'm not buying another PS4 but I'd probably buy more games if I could easily play on another TV.

android 10 is required for PS4 remote play.

even if you sideload the apk to the tv box, current android version will not support this feature.
