Mi or NVIDIA vs in TV Android TV

by j473

So I have totally given into Google for the sake of convenience, everything I use runs some version of Google software. I'm in the market for a new TV, and I just discovered Android TV exists. So of course, I'm in.

I'm looking at a TV under 1k, and it seems most of them have problems with lag, freezing, and "not enough space" warnings. So I'm guessing the better way to go is the Mi of NVIDIA.

Do you guys agree? And if so, if I get a TV that supports CEC, can I use the Mi or NVIDIA to be my control all remote?

Thanks for any input in advance.

Yes absolutely do not buy any tv for the smarts get the best picture and the features you want within your budget. People will try to argue that it's getting better but the overall track record of smart tv manufacturer support is abysmal. I highly recommend the shield I have both it and the mibox s I will say if the shield is worth the price(it is) then the mibox is as well but you get what you pay for.

Nividia Shield is the way to go and if you hav CEC then yes ty it together with the Shield

I 100% agree... don't buy smart TV's they in the long run do not get supported by the TV maker... I have Shield and love it... have always gotten the android up grades and security upgrades... and sean to get the Apps first on Nvidia

I've had the Nvidia Shield for years now, they are constantly updating it and it's my most used device connected to my TV. You can't go wrong with it.

I also have a MiBox. Can't say the experience has been as pleasant. It does the job most of the time... but it's clunky in comparison.

Shield all day!

Mi is a cheap Android TV box but Shield is the mother of all Android TV boxes. I think 4 years ago I pay 120€ and still no need to upgrade, anything works perfect and still gettin updates.

There are comprehensive Youtube videos covering Mibox S (Global version) and Shield. Both works equally well except Mibox S does not have much games (think can sideload). Shield has a better spec than Mibox S but it will cost 3 times more than Mibox.

Android TV Media players -> at the top end the Shield is still King even if it's missing some modern HDR tech features.

At the budget end, there are now more powerful devices available vs the old Mi Boxes and Jetstream Ultra - which in reality are 2016 era tech.

The popular well supported, Amazon FireTV Stick 4K is great value, best wireless remote vs anything else as well. The MECOOL KM3 / KM9 is one snappy budget setup - no Netflix on that one tho, but any old Smart TV can do that with its inbuilt App.
