Best alternative to Shield TV now that it's unable to play 4K?

With Google's apparent revoking of the shield TVs keys or certificates (not really sure what happened?) making it unable to play 4k in apps such as Google play and vudu, what are some good alternatives? Nvidia seems quiet on their forum meaning there may not be an easy solution. I've gone back to the android tv built into my Sony 900e but its slow.

I've got a lot of stuff in movies anywhere but also in Google play. Is there a way to play Google Play movies in an Amazon device? What about an apple tv?

Annoying issue but do you really think Nvidia won't fix it? Nvidia's support for the Shield has been remarkably good. They said they are rolling out a fix in the next hotfix: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/shield-tv/9/315729/known-4k-playback-issue-updated-92019/

Official support? Roku has google play and pretty much everything else. I switched from shield and roku to fire stick 4k for DV and Atmos, but roku is probably the most solid, albeit boring, platform around.

I’m keeping an eye on the new ones from Minix. Looks promising with Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, Dolby Vision and hopefully VP9.2 support. If it delivers, it will be only box on the market with these things.
