I installed the latest Prime Video APK on my Mi Box. The video quality seems brutal but there's no way to change it in settings anywhere.
If I use the Prime video app on my phone and cast to the mi box it looks great.
What gives?

Would be a DRM restriction, I think. Probably restricting to 480p. I wish Prime was official on Mi Box.
Same thing with me on a Android airtv
I had that happen once. Playback refused to switch to HD. I rebooted, shut down the app, cleared cache of the app, soon it went back to normal.
The Prime Video Android TV app is now open to anyone, except a certification is still necessary but pretty easy to pass.
So it's now up to Xiaomi to ask Amazon for the whole cert process.
I mean Xiaomi Mi TVs in India just launched (or got updated for older models) with Android 9, including Netflix and... Amazon Prime Video.
Basically, every Android TV television launching today include Prime (Even the OnePlus, yes), that tells you something indeed changed since the Google/Amazon announcement.
