Nvidia Shield TV- closed captioning/subtitles always on my default

Is anyone else having this issue? No matter what I do, whenever I play a movie/show, CC/subtitles are on and I have to turn them off again after hitting play.

I have it turned off in the nvidia system settings, what could be causing this? Shield issue? Or Android tv issue. Its happening across all my apps (netflix, google play movies, etc)

Edit: Title should say "by default"

Oh my god, I'm so glad I'm not alone! I thought I was losing it. It's incredibly frustrating. I wonder if this is a known bug...

That sounds amazing. I watch everything with subtitles on though.

I thought it was just me. It kept coming back, no matter what I tried.

So you went to Device Preferences > Accessibility > Captions and the switch for "Display" is turned off?

This was happening to me but seems to have stopped. I did nothing.
