Can’t find Ethernet MAC Address

by INeedLegalHelp69

I have a Philips 55 inch 4K Android TV. My apartment requires that I register my device’s MAC address in order to connect to the internet. Anyways, when going into settings > about > status, I can see 1 MAC address. Typically, devices have a MAC address for wired AND wireless. Considering how the wired internet isn’t working for the TV, I’m assuming there’s a wired MAC address. The only question is, where?

Connect your TVs WiFi with your smartphone hotspot and follow below mentioned details:

"You will get notification if any devices are connected to your wi-fi hotspot. Under settings select 'Tethering and Mobile Hotspot'. Double click Mobile Hotspot to see the connected devices. Select the device and click to see the IP Address, MAC Address, Connection time and Connection duration time."

If Philips doesn't show it in the UI anywhere...

You could connect to the TV with adb shell and once in run ip link . The ethernet port will be one of the ones listed, and it'll have the MAC. Not sure if those TVs allow ADB shell access though.. or if you have the right USB cables etc (they often use weird cables!). Do this twice - once with the cable connected, once without, and spot the difference to find the right one!

You could install Wireshark on a PC/laptop and connect a wire between the two. The TV (and PC/laptop!) will start sending out some requests to each other which will contain it. Some poking around in the very detailed results there will find it.

Increment the last number or letter in the MAC by one and try that.
